Spectacular Norway plus a flavour of Scotland

Look forward with anticipation to some truly breathtaking scenery on this splendid eight night cruise to the majestic Norwegian fjords. Discover towering mountain peaks, cascading waterfalls, deep blue fjords, the dramatic Flåm Railway full of zig zags and tunnels, quaint villages and the colourful old city of Stavanger. Add to this a flavour of Scotland with calls in the remote Shetland Islands and Victorian Oban for a truly unforgettable experience.

After a day at sea cruising off the Western Isles, your first call is Lerwick in the beautiful Shetland Islands, a land of heather-clad hills, cliffs and coves, abundant bird-life and Norse heritage. Your introduction to Norway is Stavanger, one of Norway’s oldest towns, where the cobbled streets and preserved wooden houses of Gamle Stavanger evoke memories of its shipping and fishing heritage. Sailing from Stavanger, view breathtaking Lysefjord flanked by steep cliffs and where towering Preikestolen or Pulpit Rock overlooks the fjord. A brief stop is made this morning at Ulvik to disembark those passengers taking the overland tour, before cruising the Hardangerfjord to Eidfjord from where you may take an excursion to one of Norway’s most famous waterfalls - Vøringsfossen. Nestled between high cliffs at the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord, Flåm is the terminus of the Flåmsbana - the dramatic railway that climbs up a 1 in 18 gradient to Myrdal. The optional Flåm Railway tour will surely be a fitting end to your time in fjordland. A relaxing day at sea precedes your final call at Oban - the ‘Gateway to the Isles’, which occupies a beautiful setting on Scotland’s west coast, before arriving back in Liverpool.
