Cherbourg, gateway to scenic Normandy, welcomes you with its exhibition commemorating the centenary of the Titanic tragedy. Having sailed from Southampton, 231 passengers embarked from here. During the following morning, view the on board displays specially gathered for this cruise before sailing off the Old Head of Kinsale, the site of the sinking of Lusitania in 1915 by torpedo attack, where a wreath-laying ceremony will be held. Cobh, formerly Queenstown, was the departure point for hundreds of thousands of Irish people who emigrated to North America and the final call for Titanic. Perhaps visit The Queenstown Story visitor centre, nearby Cork or famous Blarney Castle during this overnight stay. It was at the Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast that Titanic, Olympic and Britannic were built and where the impressive Titanic Quarter has now been developed. Tonight, the captain invites you to a special Commemorative Dinner. This morning, on the centenary of the disaster, Marco Polo arrives at Liverpool Pierhead. See Albion House, the former White Star Line headquarters, where news of the sinking was received and the Memorial to the Engine Room Heroes. A final day is spent at sea reflecting on the highlights of this voyage before returning to Tilbury.
