Visit historic cities and colourful coasts

Escape to warmer waters and explore some of the fascinating towns and cities of the Iberian Peninsula. Mouth-watering variety is the key word for this cruise as you discover each destination’s unique history and ambience.  Grand architecture gives way to charming old quarters and contrasting coastlines reveal delightful resorts.  You’ll be tempted with shopping bargains, while beachfront cafes will allow you to relax, enjoy the local cuisine and watch the world go by.

Your voyage begins with two relaxing days at sea before reaching Lisbon, the Portuguese capital, with wonderful sights such as the Belém Tower, the Monument to the Discoveries and the Statue of Christ the King.  Marvel at the city’s magnificent buildings or take a tram ride through the old Alfama district. From picturesque Portimão, with its bustling harbour and excellent shopping, visit the long sandy beach and rocky outcrops of nearby Praia da Rocha on the Algarve. By contrast, Casablanca is a modern city with lively boulevards and imposing buildings including the stunning Hassan II Mosque which has the world’s tallest minaret. Cádiz boasts a wealth of well-preserved historical landmarks and an optional excursion to the magnificent city of Seville. Step ashore in Gibraltar to discover its fascinating history and military heritage, or to take the cable car to the top of the Rock for spectacular views. A call at La Coruña, in the Spanish province of Galacia, offers a tour option to the famous pilgrimage city of Santiago de Compostela before enjoying a day at sea heading home. The port of Cobh is your final call with a chance to visit the historic city of Cork or the beautiful Irish countryside.
