Your first call on this relaxing summer break is Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. Stornoway is the main manufacturing centre for Harris Tweed, described as “the Champagne of fabrics”, that has been made on the island for centuries. Optional excursions will reveal the prehistoric standing stones at Callanish, white sand beaches, rolling peat moors, and majestic cliffs and mountains. The charming town of Tórshavn on the island of Streymoy in the Faroe Islands is one of the smallest capital cities in the world, with its smart red white and blue gabled houses and grass turfed roofs. Situated in the heart of the Gulf Stream, the Faroes are home to countless species of birds. Discover the deep-rooted Viking tradition and interesting museums, or venture further afield on an optional tour through pastures and mountains, past waterfalls and harbours, to the islands of Vagar or Eysturoy. Portree, capital of the Isle of Skye, boasts a superb natural harbour ringed with brightly painted and whitewashed houses. The setting for Bonnie Prince Charlie’s last days in Scotland, Skye is well known for its iconic castles and natural beauty. All too soon you arrive back in Liverpool at the end of a wonderful cruise.
