City discovery and Russia's imperial past

Explore famous cities such as Oslo, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Tallinn and Stockholm on a kaleidoscopic voyage of history, heritage, culture and colour. The highlight of your cruise will undoubtedly be the imperial splendour of St. Petersburg, home to cultural delights such as the Hermitage Museum, Catherine Palace and the Church on Spilled Blood. It will be an exciting voyage of discovery giving you wonderful memories to bring home.

Sailing from Tilbury, Marco Polo heads for the Baltic Sea with a transit of the 98km Kiel Canal.  Your first call is Tallinn, Estonia’s charismatic capital, with its old town jumble of turrets, spires and winding cobbled streets and precedes the imperial city of St. Petersburg, home to historic and cultural gems such as the fabulous Hermitage, Catherine Palace, St Isaac’s Cathedral and Peterhof. An overnight stay here allows you to make the most of a comprehensive day and evening excursion programme. Helsinki is Finland’s stately capital, built on a peninsula amid a cluster of islands and dominated by the spectacular onion-domed Uspensky Cathedral. On now to Stockholm, a splendid waterside city built across a maze of islands, presenting view after view of elegant bridges and proud public buildings. Copenhagen is home to Hans Christian Andersen’s Little Mermaid. Wander along the Strøget, relax in the famous Tivoli Gardens and enjoy the charm of the Nyhavn harbour. In Oslo, discover the fascinating Viking Ship Museum, the Royal Palace, medieval Akershus Fortress and the Vigeland Sculpture Park with more than 150 sculptures symbolising the stages in the life of mankind. A final day at sea will enable you to reflect on this truly wonderful voyage.
