Wake up in Amsterdam, the Dutch capital, and take a boat ride on the tree-lined canals of this lively, cosmopolitan city, or venture into the countryside of the land forever associated with windmills, tulips, clogs and cheese. There’s an option to visit the marvellous Keukenhof Gardens famous for their spectacular springtime colour. Marco Polo then cruises the River Seine to historic Rouen. An overnight stay gives you ample time to venture ashore and explore the city whose charming narrow streets are lined with half-timbered houses and fine Gothic churches. View the magnificent Cathedral of Notre-Dame and the spot where Joan of Arc, patron saint of France, was burned at the stake. 	With more bicycles than permanent residents, the Dutch capital is both charming and quirky. Aesthetically little has changed in the centre since its 17th century Golden Age. Beautiful gabled houses and merchants’ mansions line serene, tree-lined canals, which are laid out in five concentric circles and crossed by numerous bridges. The Royal Palace, originally built as a Town Hall in the 17th century, stands on a large square in the centre of the city. Its Old Town is a delightful maze of narrow, cobblestone streets lined with fine half-timbered houses and wonderful gothic churches including the magnificent Cathedrale Notre Dame and the Eglise St. Maclou. Rouen’s Place du Vieux-Marche is famous as the site where Joan of arc was burned at the stake in 1431. Further upriver is the village of Giverny and the home of Claude Monet, who captured the beauty of Rouen in many of his paintings.

	Zeebrugge is an important port in Flanders and a coastal gateway to Belgium and your gateway to Bruges. Picturesque Bruges is a delightful little city of canals and stone bridges, winding cobbled streets and medieval Flemish architecture. Cosmopolitan Brussels is an historic and royal city divided into the Lower and Upper Town. The Lower Town has gothic, baroque and renaissance-era buildings dating from the Middle Ages to the 18th century. Whilst the picturesque Quartier Royal, surrounded by 18th and 19th century palaces, is the most distinctive plaza of the Upper Town.
