At Eidfjord, gaze at the rugged mountain slopes and on an optional excursion, view one of Norway’s most famous waterfalls, Vøringsfossen, cascading 182 metres into the wild valley below. Nestled between high cliffs at the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord, a branch of the mighty Sognefjord, is Flåm, terminus of the incredible Flåmsbana. The optional Flåm Railway tour may well be the highlight of your cruise. The centre of Fjærland is Mundal where you will find the Norwegian Book Town with several picturesque second-hand book shops in old wooden buildings before sailing to Balestrand, a pretty peaceful setting surrounded by lush mountains. The charming village of Olden is situated at the innermost arm of the beautiful Nordfjord and is ideally situated for the chance to visit the Briksdal Glacier, one of the most visited in Norway. The delightful old Hanseatic port of Bergen is your final call where you can explore the historic Bryggen district, the heart of the medieval city with its beautifully restored wooden warehouses. Then all too soon Marco Polo takes a south-westerly course back to Tilbury.
