Your first call is the charming town of Tórshavn on the island of Streymoy, the smallest capital city in the world, with its smart red white and blue gabled houses and grass turfed roofs.  Take an optional tour into the Faroes’ Viking past and interesting museums or venture further afield through pastures and mountains, past waterfalls and harbours, to the islands of Vagar or Eysturoy.  There is more to explore on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. 

Stornoway was originally a Viking settlement. Today it is home to a busy harbour, a fishing fleet and the Lewis Loom Centre. Optional excursions will reveal the prehistoric standing stones at Callanish, white sand beaches, rolling peat moors, and majestic cliffs and mountains. Kirkwall, capital of the Orkney archipelago, is dominated by its medieval cathedral dedicated to St. Magnus, Here is the chance to visit the beautifully restored Stone Age village of Skara Brae, the formal naval base at Scapa Flow, where HMS Royal Oak sunk in World War II, and the famous Churchill Barriers. A gentle sail down the east coast ends your cruise in Leith.
