After a day at sea sailing to Norway, you awake this morning to find yourself amid the breathtaking beauty of the serene and tranquil Hardangerfjord. Your first call is at the pretty village of Eidfjord, at the head of an arm of the splendid Hardangerfjord, surrounded by mountains. An optional excursion will take you to the vast Hardangervidda plateau and Vøringsfossen, probably Norway’s most famous waterfall. Journey now into the mighty Sogne, Norway’s longest fjord, and call at Flåm, nestled between high cliffs at the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord. Here is the terminus of the incredible Flåmsbana that climbs spectacularly up a 1 in 18 gradient to Myrdal. The optional Flåm Railway tour could be the highlight of your cruise. At Bergen, a huddle of quaint old timber buildings on the wharf shelters shared alleyways, fragile balconies and narrow stairways; this is the medieval Bryggen district. Further along the front is the bustling fish market selling a fascinating array of sea food, while the nearby funicular climbs to the top of Mount Fløyen for a spectacular view. Spend a relaxing day at sea and enjoy a final evening’s entertainment before arriving back in Tilbury. |
