Relax and get to know Marco Polo and your fellow passengers. Then, celebrate a sparkling Christmas Day on board including a traditional Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings and a wonderful programme of activities and entertainment. Step ashore in Gibraltar to discover its fascinating history and military heritage before reaching Lanzarote, a volcanic island of extraordinary moon-like landscapes best viewed from the slopes of Fire Mountain. Dominated by Mount Teide, the highest mountain in Spain, Tenerife is the largest of the Canaries. In Santa Cruz, perhaps choose to visit the delightful tropical gardens and aquarium at Loro Parque.
Next stop is La Gomera, Christopher Columbus’ last port of call before crossing the Atlantic in 1492. Here nature has created beautiful forests, lush vegetation and dramatic ravines. With its pretty white painted houses and beautiful scenery, the island of Madeira will delight you and this evening is spent back on board seeing in the New Year in style. Finally you call at Leixoes, gateway to Oporto on the banks of the Douro River and home of the famous Port wine.
