A perfect way to enjoy Easter!

A perfect way to enjoy Easter, this special cruise will voyage south in search of some Iberian springtime sunshine. Discover four contrasting Spanish and Portuguese cities packed with historic and colourful sights and rich in maritime heritage. This unusual cruise encompasses the Easter weekend and will take you to four contrasting Spanish and Portuguese ports including historic Lisbon and Oporto, famous for its Port wine. La Coruña offers a tour option to the famous pilgrimage city of Santiago de Compostela and from Avilés perhaps visit the Asturian capital of Oviedo. See as much or as little as you want and back on board, enjoy the delicious cuisine, leisure facilities and entertainment programme including a ‘Laugh on the Ocean Waves’ with guest comedians.

Your voyage begins with a relaxing Easter Sunday spent enjoying life on board Discovery. Your first call is La Coruña in the Spanish province of Galacia from where the Spanish Armada once set sail. Explore this historic port town, stroll the  seafront, or opt to visit the famous pilgrimage city of Santiago de Compostela. On now to Portugal and Leixoes from where you may visit Oporto on the banks of the Duoro River. Famous for its Port wine, Oporto is the seat of centuries of Portuguese culture. Lisbon, the Portuguese capital, stands on the River Tegus, down which the great explorers once sailed. It presents some wonderful sights such as the Belém Tower, the Monument to the Discoveries and the Statue of Christ the King.  Marvel at the city’s magnificent buildings or take a tram ride through the old Alfama district. Step ashore at the Asturian city of Avilés to explore the colourful streets of the old town and browse the colourful shops. An optional excursion will take you to Oviedo, capital of Asturias, with its elegant cathedral and ‘sidrerias’ bars serving the unique Asturian cider.  A final day is spent at sea as you sail back to the Bristol Channel.

Note: Shops may be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
