CMV Farewell Ocean Countess Sailing

An autumn cruise south to the sun!  Whether you like exploring the narrow old streets of historic towns with their quaint bars and local handicraft shops, discovering historic buildings and churches, green hills and exotic valleys, or simply relaxing on harbour fronts sampling the seafood, this cruise to the Canary Islands and Madeira is sure to fit the bill.  There are delights to be found around every corner on this fascinating voyage.

A relaxing two days at sea offers the opportunity to enjoy the on board facilities, daytime activities and evening entertainment. Your first call is Lisbon, Portugal’s capital and architectural treat, reflecting the Age of Discovery when the city was at its peak. Funchal on “the garden isle” of Madeira nestles in a natural amphitheatre surrounded by sheltering slopes. There’s a lively waterfront and a charming old town of narrow cobbled streets to explore.  Your discovery of the Canary Islands begins at pretty Santa Cruz de La Palma, once a port connecting routes to the Americas, with a legacy of palaces, colonial buildings and traditional Canary architecture to discover. La Palma features the Caldera de Taburiente, one of the most impressive volcanic craters in the world. Dominated by Mount Teide, Tenerife is renowned for its beach resorts, and the island’s capital of Santa Cruz offers a number of museums and churches to visit together with tempting shops and restaurants. Sail across to the island of Lanzarote and the bustling city of Arrecife to stroll along the magnificent seafront promenade. Visit the slopes of Fire Mountain and discover an island of extraordinary lunar landscapes before sailing to Agadir, a thriving port with a cosmopolitan seasode resort, hill-top Kasbah and colourful souk. Your next call is Malaga, the birth place of Picasso which lies on a beautiful sweep of bay in Andalucia. Enjoy your last night aboard Ocean Countess before arriving in Barcelona for your flight back to the UK.

Flights back to the UK will return into the North West including Liverpool and Manchester plus other regional options. Coach transfers will be provided from the Liverpool/Manchester airports back to Liverpool Pierhead long term car park and Liverpool Lime Street Station (all included in cruise fare). Airport baggage limit is 20kg.

CMV Ocean Countess Farewell Cruise - This cruise will be the last CMV cruise aboard Ocean Countess. Having enjoyed three successful cruising seasons with Ocean Countess and her popular crew, Ocean Countess finish her cruise programme with this final 13 night Canary Islands & Madeira.

CMV Commercial Director Chris Coates said: "It should be a great experience on board the Farewell Ocean Countess cruise and a fitting way to end our operation of this elegant lady. We have enjoyed three highly successful summer seasons operating Ocean Countess from regional ports around the British Isles and now look forward to operating the upgraded Discovery in 2013.”
